When maple syrup farmer Ruth Landry sees her livelihood under attack from her friends’ greedy competitors, she hatches a plan to get revenge and shake up the industry. I want to start by mentioning that I went into this series with medium to light expectations, so there were no major disappointments or real surprises.
I knew about the real maple heist, saw the trailer and thought it would be fun to watch
And it can be fun to watch if you like low-quality Fargo pieces made by people who understand nothing about the functional ingredients of Coen brothers’ movies. And I guess you could say that all the little elements they took from other films could be homages and acknowledgments if they weren’t so uncomfortably and inappropriately sure of their uniqueness.
There’s a certain smugness to the writing and direction that, frankly, isn’t earned
It is someone else’s work that has been exhausted over and over again. It’s the end of a game of telephone, and the sentence is almost unrecognizable.
Sarcastic, ugly, nasty, weird and nasty
The only real draw to the series that kept me watching until the end was the cast. They give it 100% even if the characters are all the same archetypes these Actors always seem to be playing these days.
